The strongest way to hold Bitcoin is together.

A SignBit vault is a Bitcoin multisig wallet that you create and control. Invite family, friends, or SignBit to hold keys alongside yours, and set how many of them it takes to approve a spend. It never takes all of them.

Most people finish setting up in about 15 minutes.

What a vault does

Nine reasons people move their Bitcoin here.

Your keys are made on your device

Your keys are generated on hardware you own and never reach our servers. We do not have a copy, so we could not move your coins on our own.

We hold one key at most…

Your vault needs more than one key to spend, and ours is only ever one of them. The same maths that stops us moving your coins stops anyone who steals your laptop.

…or none at all

You can run a vault where every key belongs to you or to people you choose. We hold a key only if you ask us to.

You choose how many keys

Two keys out of three for a personal vault, or eight out of fifteen for a large organisation. You decide how many signatures a spend needs and who holds them.

No KYC

Sign up with just an email. No passport, no selfie, no proof of address. What you hold is your business.

Support from people who know multisig

You can reach a person any day of the week. Paid plans go to the front of the queue.

Fountain, our signing app

Create your keys, back them up and sign with them in one free app that never goes online. No command line and nothing to configure.

Works with wallets you already use

Spends are standard PSBTs, so Sparrow, Electrum or any wallet that handles them can approve one.

Leave whenever you want

Download your vault backup and open it in any compatible wallet. You do not need an account with us, and you do not need our permission.

For the day something goes wrong

Most Bitcoin is lost to a mislaid key, a convincing email, or a death in the family, rather than to anything sophisticated. A vault is built for those.

A lost or broken key

Lose a hardware wallet or delete a key, and the remaining keyholders can still reach the threshold and move everything to a fresh vault.

Hacks and phishing

Someone who steals one key cannot spend with it. They would need the rest of the quorum as well.

Physical coercion

Where a SignBit signature is required to spend, withdrawal delays and spending limits mean your Bitcoin cannot be emptied on the spot. An attacker with one key in hand still has to wait, and still cannot exceed your limits.

SignBit out of reach

Your vault lives on the Bitcoin network, not on our servers. Whether we are down for an hour or gone for good, your keys and your vault backup are enough to open it somewhere else.

The unthinkable

If something happens to you, the people you named have a documented way to reach the coins, and a route to ask us for a missing signature if they need one. Your Bitcoin does not die with your passwords.

What it looks like to use

Four screens you'll spend most of your time in.

  • Dashboard: Every vault you hold a key in, and what needs signing.
  • Vault: One vault: its balance, an address to receive to, and who holds each key.
  • Send: Check the address and the amount, then collect the signatures you need.
  • Policy: Set a daily limit, a delay, or a list of addresses you'll send to.

Fountain

The offline app that holds your key. Make it, keep it on a device that never goes online, and sign spends by moving a file or scanning a code. Your key never leaves it.

  • It cannot go online. There is no networking code in the app at all, so there is nothing to disable and nothing to trust.
  • The source is public. Don't take our word for what it does with your key. Go read it.
  • It works without us. Set up a vault offline today and you can still sign with it if SignBit is gone tomorrow.

Free forever, on every platform.

Common questions

Can SignBit steal or freeze my Bitcoin?

No. We hold at most one key, and every spend needs more than one, so we cannot move your coins. We cannot freeze you out either: your own keyholders can reach the threshold without us.

Is it really free? How does SignBit make money?

Yes. The Personal plan is free forever: one 2-of-3 vault, keyholders you invite, and the Fountain app for every key. We earn from the paid plans, which add more vaults, priority recovery help, inheritance planning, spending limits and larger key setups. We never take a cut of your balance, and we never sell your data.

What happens if I lose my key?

Your coins are safe. The remaining keyholders can still reach the threshold, and we guide you through moving everything to a fresh vault with a new key.

What if I cannot reach SignBit?

You still control your Bitcoin. Your vault backup (a small file, technically called a descriptor) is standard and downloadable. With it, your key and the recovery key can open the vault from any compatible wallet, no SignBit required.

What if SignBit gets hacked?

Your Bitcoin stays put. One key is never enough to move coins out of a vault, so even someone who broke into SignBit would still need the keys that you and your keyholders hold. Two-factor sign-in protects your account on top of that.

Which wallets and devices work with SignBit?

Fountain, our free signer app, plus the hardware wallets most people already own: Ledger and Trezor. You can also sign and recover with Sparrow or Electrum on a computer. Vaults are standard Bitcoin multisig, so any compatible wallet can open yours.

Do I need to show ID?

No. An email address is enough to open an account and create a vault. We don't ask for a passport, a selfie or proof of address. If you pay for a plan, your card is handled by our payment provider, and we never see the full number.

What happens to my Bitcoin when I die?

You record who inherits and print a recovery plan, and anyone holding enough keys can open the vault with it, without asking us. If your heirs are one key short, they can ask us for the last signature. That is not automatic and nothing fires on death: they have to prove they hold your other keys, your account has to have been silent for twelve months, and we spend ninety days trying to reach you first. Every message we send you in that time carries a link that stops it in one click.

How is this different from an exchange?

An exchange holds Bitcoin on your behalf, so what you own is a claim against the company. With SignBit the coins sit on-chain in a wallet that only your keys open. We co-sign when you ask us to, and we never hold your coins.

What happens if I stop paying?

Your vault keeps working, and your Bitcoin stays exactly where it is. Your account moves back to the free Personal plan; anything you already set up stays in place, and the plan's limits only apply to new things you add. We never hold your coins, so there is nothing to hold back. One thing to know: if a monthly plan ends within its first 3 months after you've used paid features, subscribing again later includes a one-off fee for the months left unpaid.

Do I need to be technical?

No. Setting up a vault is guided from start to finish, and hardware wallets connect the usual way. If you can use a banking app, you can use SignBit.

I want to hold a multisig wallet on my own. Do I need other people?

No. Plenty of people run a vault completely alone, and it's a normal setup rather than a workaround. You hold every key yourself and keep them on separate devices in separate places, so a stolen laptop or a house fire costs you one key instead of all your Bitcoin. You also decide whether we hold a co-signing key at all. Only invite someone if you actually want a second person involved.

Start with one vault

Create one for free and move a small amount in first. If you would rather talk it through, we will walk you through setting it up.

No lock-in. Your backup opens your vault anywhere, any time.
